More or less student housing in Delft?

Delft is a true student city, and the number of students that want to live here continues to grow. Most of these students want to live in Delft itself, so the demand for affordable student houses is growing.

Some parties say that Delft should build student houses. Stip lobbies for the building of accommodation for at least one thousand students, and for building on demand after that. PvdA advocates for the building of two thousand new student rooms.

D66 and GroenLinks do not specify a quota, but they do think that more student rooms should be created. GroenLinks believes in cooperating with housing corporations like DUWO to get this done. SP also supports the creation of more housing, but wants to talk with the university about the number of students it plans to attract in the future.

Onafhankelijk Delft, CDA and VVD also promote the creation of more student housing, but only on the campus itself, and not in the rest of the city. To avoid a concentration of student housing in one street, CDA would cap the number of student houses in one street to six.

Stadsbelangen Delft supports the idea of converting empty buildings into student housing, but it emphasises that the university should take more responsibility and build accommodation on campus. It also says that new students should accept that they cannot all live in Delft, and that they should also consider living in neighbouring municipalities.
