Leiden fraternity member ends up in hospital
A member of Leiden student fraternity Minerva was allegedly kicked in the abdomen. The student has been hospitalised and the association has filed a report, reports (in Dutch) De Telegraaf newspaper.
The violence reportedly took place in early November and the student ended up in hospital two days later. According to De Telegraaf, the victim ‘possibly’ ruptured his spleen.
There will be an investigation into the incident, writes the newspaper based on an internal message of the Leiden association. All those present at the assault have been provisionally suspended, including a board member.
“It has made us realise that the steps we have taken for an internal culture change have unfortunately not been enough”, the association responds (in Dutch) to television programme RTL Nieuws. (HOP, BB)
