Each month some 65,000 job seekers visit www.AcademicTransfer.nl, a website offering diverse job vacancies, from concierges to professorships. It’s unknown how many visitors subsequently land jobs, but visitors rate the site a 7 (out of 10).
With increasing numbers of international visitors, the VSNU, the national university organisation that manages the website, has set up an English-language version, www.AcademicTransfer.org, where information is available about working in other EU countries, the USA, Canada, China and Japan. Soon, the website will also advertise job vacancies.

Dr. Peter Rem of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences has developed a technique for recycling the smallest metal particles from household trash. Previously, it wasn’t possible to segregate the metal particles smaller than 10 millimetres found in the ashes after incineration. In June, Rem’s patented technology will be used in a pilot plant. One thousand kilograms of ash produces recycled metal worth twenty Euros.
