Thanks Erasmus

at least he looks happy! Wednesday nights at Café de Ruif, the place where Erasmus and other foreign students new to Delft get to know their first friends. People from everywhere start with usual questions between beers, “Where are you from…” (beer) “What do you study…” (beer) “When did you arrive…”(beer). And then after several beers and drunk enough the casual questions start, like, “do you have a boyfriend”, or they just cut straight to the hunt without asking. After you’ve been in Delft a while, everything looks different, and you just go to de Ruif to sit and have one beer like a veteran, checking out the next generation of foreign imports. But anyway, everyone should thank and say ‘cheers!’ to Desiderius, because the Erasmus-student life is great: Six months to have the best party time you can.

I wonder what Desiderius Erasmus thought when he proposed this ‘education’ for the students. Could he imagine it would be like this for ‘Erasmus-students’?
