Real Estate Career Day

Have you ever thought about working in the real estate industry? You don’t want to miss the upcoming Real Estate Career Day (RECD) on April 24th.

This annual event is sponsored by BOSS, the Building Organisation Student Society of TU Delft. According to Thomas Dekker, event chairman, the main goal of BOSS and the RECD is to connect students with companies. “It’s about the educational side meeting with the practical side,” he states.

At least 23 companies are expected to participate in this year’s event. They will include Real Estate developers, consultants, brokers and investment companies. Some confirmed participants include CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), Deloitte, Gemeente Delft and ABC Management Groep, just to name a few. “This event gives students a chance to learn about companies in the industry. It also allows them to learn about potential jobs or internships,” says Dekker. With a struggling economy and challenging job market, this event offers participants the chance to explore real opportunities. Students of all levels are welcome, but Dekker says the event is best suited to master’s students who are just about ready to enter the job market.

The first part of the day will involve case studies, real estate games and workshops, but be aware that these sessions will be conducted in Dutch. These activities will test your knowledge on issues related to the industry and provide real world scenarios from the real estate industry to learn from. From 14.15 to 17.00 there will be a career market where students have a chance to meet one on one with potential employers.  According to Dekker, many of the participating companies are international and should be able to discuss opportunities in English. At the end of the day there will be a networking reception and a closing dinner hosted by companies.

Previous events have attracted students from all over the world. The RECD welcomes attendance from more than just TU Delft students, as demonstrated last year with over 250 students from various Dutch universities participating.

The Real Estate Career Day will take place at the Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft. A contribution of €7.50 is requested, and this price includes lunch. For more information and to register you can visit www.recd.nl.
