Night of the Enterprises

Are you looking for interesting job opportunities or an internship in Delft? Night of the Enterprises provides an opportunity for students to meet local companies.

Night of the Enterprises will be taking place again on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 after a successful first edition last year. Gemeente Delft is the initiator and organiser of the event in cooperation with TU Delft, The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Inholland University of Applied Sciences. “The Night of the Enterprises will be held in English. The reason is that everyone understands and speaks English, and the event is meant for Dutch as well as international students,” said Margie Burger, event spokesperson for Gemeente Delft.

The event focuses not only on larger companies that are likely known to students, but smaller less known enterprises as well. Participants can sign up for a specific theme – High Tech, IT, Design or Biotechnology – and a bus will take you to two or three companies operating in the field for a quick tour. There are two IT tours. The first will visit TamTam and S[&]T Corporation and the second will visit TOPdesk, IT Works and Exact. Likewise, there are two High Tech tours. The first will visit Ventil, Mapper and Hittech Multin and the second will visit VDL-ETG and VSL. The biotechnology bus visits Biothane and Applikon. Finally, the design bus visits Jeanne Dekkers Architecture, Fabrique and Octatube.

“We have a partnership with Aachen in Germany, and we copied their event here in Delft,” explained Burger. “Last year we had around 140 students, fifteen companies and six buses,” she said. The first edition generated a number of internships and one job as a young professional.

The purpose of the evening is to bring Delft students and companies into contact with each other in a low-key manner, with the hope of retaining more graduates for the Delft knowledge economy. During the evening, the companies will have the chance to make an impression on potential future employees by showing how creative, innovative and enterprising they are. In turn, students can get an insight as to what happens behind the scenes at these companies, experience the atmosphere, gather information about job opportunities and internships, and learn about corporate culture.

The start and end point of the tours is Lijm & Cultuur at Rotterdamseweg 272, Delft. The doors open at 15:30, and the deputy mayor of Delft, Ferrie Förster, will open the event at 16:00. The tours take place between 16:30 and 20:30, returning for drinks until 21:30. The event is free of charge. If you’re interested in taking part, you can find out more and register here.
