International students visit TU water lab

Last week, 160 high school students representing 30 schools originating from various continents, came to the Netherlands for the waterconference Water=Life. On June 8, they visited the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences.

There, they were introduced to typical (Dutch) water issues, like the construction of dikes and the purification of water. The students were challenged with two cases as well. In the simulation, they had to solve the closure of a power plant due to high temperatures of the Rhine. The second case considered the investment in water purification plants to meet the limits on arsenic in water as set by the World Health Organization.

The goal of Water=Life is to bring students together to create awareness of various water issues around the world and to share innovative water technologies.
