An inspirational start

The academic year 2014-2015, gets off to an inspirational start. We’re not just talking about special guest, Dutch astronaut André Kuipers, who will interact with the audience at the Opening of the Academic Year, to be held September 1.

This year a Student Inspiration Award will also be awarded.“With this award, TU Delft wishes to reward a student or graduate for his or her inspiring achievement,” explains Anka Mulder, vice president of the executive board. She explains that the award also reminds students that being a member of the TU Delft community comes with both rights and responsibilities. It will set the bar high for new students.

In order to choose the finalists, a jury comprising four directors of education (from four different faculties) selected three nominees from the Students Wall of Fame. In consultation with the Faculty Student Council, each faculty submits a list of selected candidates for the Wall of Fame. Inclusion on the Wall of Fame is open to all current students, alumni and PhD candidates.

“Later this month [August], a jury of TU Delft staff (a member of the nomination commission and Peter Wieringa) and Chiem Ringers, the chair of the student council on behalf of the student community will choose the winner out of the three nominees. The nominees and the winner will be presented during the Opening of the Academic Year.”
