Foreign Eye

@04 fotokopje:Foreign EyeA spaceship has landed? Have you been wondering what that thing is that is being erected in front of the Faculty of Architecture? A steel skeleton that doesn’t seem to follow any form known to man..

.. The answer is: it’s a blob! Blobs can be described as amorphous architectural forms, often created with the help of computer software. The blob in question is better known as the ‘I-Web’, designed by architect and TU Delft professor Kas Oosterhuis. The I-Web was originally one of the pavilions built for the Floriade exhibition of 2002 in the Haarlemermeer. The Floriade is an international horticultural exhibition that takes place once every ten years in the Netherlands. Upon completion, the Faculty of Architecture plans to use this pavilion-blob as an interactive, inter-disciplinary space.
