The Energy Festival is back

For the third year in a row, the Energy Festival will be held at TU Delft. Sponsored by the Energy Club, the main purpose of the festival is to show energy related projects from TU Delft in an interactive way to TU Delft students.

The Energy Club is a student run organization that aims to connect students, academics and professionals through their work in sustainable energy. At this year’s festival they plan to showcase their current projects to educate people about the research being done and to give students an opportunity to get involved. According to Timea Marócsik, events commissioner for the Energy Club, working on these projects can help students to earn European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System credits.

Besides the showcased projects there will also be an information market with partners of the Energy Club, including companies and start-ups. Exhibitors will include The Green Village, Delft Energy Initiative, Prêt-à-Loger, D-Exto and many more. Marócsik noted that some of these key partners sponsor school projects and do workshops and lectures throughout the year.

Marócsik, a second year master’s student from Hungary, started working with the Energy Club last year. She hopes students who attend the festival will be inspired. “I hope that they will be amazed, just like I was when I came to TU Delft, by all the great opportunities offered by our university and its partners,” she says. “By involving the students in these energy-related projects, I hope that they will develop both professionally and personally and will become active contributors in the energy transition.”

And what festival would be complete without a little bit of fun? Attendees will be able to participate in events like racing cars on a hydrogen race track and riding tricycles that are powered by screaming into a can. The louder you scream, the faster you go. Music will be spun by two DJs and there will be a happy hour from 16:00 to 17:00 with free beer. It will be followed by a BBQ that can be enjoyed for a small contribution.

Organizers are expecting around 250 attendees at the event, which will take place on September 19, 2014 between 15:30 and 22:00. It will be located on Van den Burghweg, next to the civil engineering building.

Attendance at the event is free. During the second week of September the Energy Club will be running a promotion to give away some free food tickets. For more information on this promotion and the event visit their Facebook event
