Visit to Delft Blue Pottery, 16 March 10am.

We have arranged a guided tour of Delft’s most prominent china factory, the ‘Porceleyne Fles’ (porcelain bottle). You will see how the moulds are made and watch intricate patterns being painted by hand. After the guided tour we will, as we always do, end this ING morning with a cup of coffee or tea. The ‘Porceleyne Fles’ is located at the Rotterdamseweg 196, Delft.

We had to cancel our visit to the Peace Palace in February, because the court had a special session that day, but we have managed to make arrangements to visit the Peace Palace this month. The visit to the Peace Palace will be on March 30. To be able to go on this trip you have to fill in the slip at the end of the Newsletter before March 20.

Information: ING Meeting Point, Hotel Sebastiaansbrug, Zusterlaan 114, every Wednesday from 10-12 noon or the VI point, ITS building, room 6.12 from 9.00am-4.30pm, Monday-Friday. Membership is free and you will receive a Newsletter every month.

Church

The church service for the international students will be held in the Raamstraat on 18 March, starting at 11.30 hours. The theme of the service will be ‘Living with the One Who Is’ and the service will be conducted by the rev. Fr. Ben Engelbertink, mhm. Participation with songs and music instruments is highly appreciated and every body is welcome for the social gathering afterwards.

Course

The Body in Feminist Theory and Practice on April 6, 12, 20 & 26. Credits: 4 (160 hrs).

Only open to candidates enrolled in the NOV and other Research Schools.

This course focuses on the body from two analytically distinct, yet closely interrelated perspectives. On the one hand, the body may be approached as an object of knowledge, variously theorised by (feminist) critics and theorists. On the other, the embodied nature of the subject of knowledge can be seen to play a critical role in (feminist) research practices. Through class discussion and various assignments they are encouraged critically to reflect upon the meanings and effects of such conceptualisations. All participants should be prepared actively to interrogate the role of their own corporeality, i.e. the effects of their own ’embodiedness,’ ontheir actual research practices.

Place: Utrecht University.

Registration and information before 23 March at nov@let.uu.nl
