Laura Sterna (25), from Latvia, wears woolen socks around the house, like slippers. She always wears a pair of cotton socks under the wool socks, though, as otherwise the wool feels too rough on her bare feet. Her grandmother knitted these socks for her six years ago. It’s quite common for folks in her home country to wear wool socks, as winters in Latvia can be bitterly cold. She has three more pairs of socks like these in a drawer back home. Sterna hopes to complete her MSc degree in water management next June.
