For the foreign students from warmer climes, the Dutch winter can take some getting used to. The cold, the dull oppressive clouds, the biting wind, the lack of sun and the shortened days can really dampen the will to leave your bed. In order to get through, you need to focus on the little things – because yes, there are some benefits in all this. The long nights for instance mean sunrise is at a much more civilized hour. This provides the perfect opportunity to take photos like this at 8.30 a.m. while on your way to lectures. Come summertime, it will require much more dedication if you want to be up in time to catch the sunrise.
